The council is an active advocate for the extension of the of the New Markets Tax Credit program on Capital Hill and meets regularly with key Department of Treasury staff. Additionally, the council hosts New Markets Tax Credit Symposia twice per year and convenes regularly at face-to-face meetings and via monthly conference calls.

2009 Winter New Markets Credit Symposium
NH&RA's NMTC Council will be convening its 9th New Markets Tax Credit Symposium on March 11 at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida. This event is scheduled immediately prior to the NH&RA 2009 Affordable Housing Annual Meeting (March 12-15). NH&RA's NMTC Symposium is different than other industry events--the program combines state-of-the-art case studies with open-ended discussion on the most pressing transactional, legislative and regulatory issues facing the New Markets Tax Credit development industry. The intimate sessions draw the leading industry practitioners for thoughtful and interactive discussions among the various parties involved in NMTC transactions. NH&RA's NMTC Symposia are routinely attended by top executives and staff from both the CDFI Fund and the private sector. They are the only events in the industry that bring together ALL of the major industry players for this type of industry forum.
