2009 Fall Developers Forum November 2-3, 2009

PowerPoint Presentations Now Available!  Click Here!

The National Housing & Rehabilitation Association's staff would like to thank everyone who joined us in Boston for our recent 2009 Fall Developers Forum. A lot of work goes into these programs but a lot of its success really hinges on the attendees. Its the camaraderie and openness of professionals like you, who came to learn, network, share ideas and contribute knowledge that make these meetings so fruitful and our organization vibrant.

In the end, more than 200 developers and affordable housing professionals joined us for innovative sessions on closing TCAP & Exchange Transactions as well as updates on the economy, public policy developments in Washington and the debt & equity markets. Our keynote address by Dominque Blom, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Housing Investments provided key insight into the proposed Choice Neighborhoods Initiative—one of the most exciting new housing production proposals in recent memory. We also had very productive meetings of our Developers Council, Historic Preservation Development Council, Council for Energy Friendly Affordable Housing and HOPE VI Developers Council. We’ll be posting minutes in our “members only” section on the website in the upcoming days.

This years’ Affordable Housing Vision Awardees, David Smith and Lisa Alberghini, inspired us all with moving speeches on their vision for the future of affordable housing. We’ll be posting excerpts from our awards presentation on Youtube and on our website in the next few days and urge you to check them out when you can. We also announced the winners of the 2009 J. Timothy Anderson Awards For Excellence In Historic Rehabilitation—this years honorees will be highlighted in upcoming issues of this newsletter and in Tax Credit Advisor in the new few weeks. I hope you found it as compelling as we did and wanted to thank you for joining us.

If you've never attended one of our meetings, I encourage you to check out one of our future events and feel free to contact us for more information. We have a great event scheduled for next Monday & Tuesday in Chicago and are currently planning our 2010 Annual Meeting & Pre-Conference Symposium on New Markets Tax Credits, scheduled for March 10-13, 2010 at the Ritz Carlton South Beach in Miami, Florida. If you have suggestions for program topics or would like to participate as a speaker, please let us know. For more information on NH&RA’s future events, click here.
