Dr. Ben Carson, the nominee for HUD Secretary, will undergo a confirmation hearing before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs on January 12, 2017 at 10am ET.
The position would mark Dr. Carson’s first time holding political office. The top issue in the hearing will likely be Dr. Carson’s lack of experience in housing and community development. It is anticipated that Dr. Carson will receive confirmation.
The Senate has yet to take up the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act (H.R. 7024), which passed the House in January and contains two critical LIHTC provisions.
HUD’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity issued guidance on the Application of the Fair Housing Act to the Screening of Applicants for Rental Housing.
