Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) recently introduced the Affordable Housing for Educational Achievement Demonstration (AHEAD) Act. The bill would incentivize coordination amongst housing authorities, school districts, and community organizations to improve educational and housing outcomes for children.

The bill would provide grant funding from both HUD and the Department of Education to fund projects tackling the issues of child and family homelessness, socioeconomic and racial diversity, and academic achievement amongst low-income, at risk children. A fact sheet has also been provided.
