The National Park Service released is annual report, Federal Tax Incentives for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings, which examines the 2017 fiscal year. Accomplishments for the Federal Historic Tax Credit in 2017 include:

  • Over $5.8 billion in private investment
  • 106,846 jobs created
  • 16% increase in approved rehabilitation projects and a 6% increase in certifications of significance over last year

The report also notes that 34 states currently have state historic tax credit programs which can be paired with the federal tax credit. Since its enactment in 1977, the credit has leveraged %89.97 billion in private investment, created an estimated 2.54 million jobs, rehabilitated 278,270 housing units, and created 289,933 new affordable housing units.
