On Wednesday, July 18, Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) introduced the Task Force on the Impact of the Affordable Housing Crisis Act (S. 3231), a bill that establishes a bipartisan Task Force with three primary tasks:

  1. Quantifying the impact that the affordable housing crisis has on life outcomes
  2. Quantify costs incurred by Federal, State, and Local programs unrelated to housing due to a lack of affordable housing
  3. Recommend how Congress can use affordable housing programs to improve the effectiveness of other Federal programs

The task force would be composed of 18 members, all of whom would be appointed in a bi-partisan fashion by majority and minority leaders of the House and Senate.

Senator Young has recently made available a one-page Fact Sheet on the proposed legislation.
