NTCIC founder and president, John Leith-Tetrault, was awarded a Lifetime Achievement award, recognizing the enduring impact he has had on historic preservation during the recent Historic Tax Credit Conference in Nashville, TN.

John has more than 35 years of nonprofit and for-profit experience in community development, real estate finance, urban planning and historic preservation. As founder and director of the National Trust’s Community Partners program, John pioneered an urban neighborhood revitalization model that used “preservation-based community development” strategies to bring new investments to low-income urban historic districts. This program grew into a stand-alone corporate subsidiary of the National Trust in 2000—NTCIC—thanks to John. Through the formation of NTCIC, John made the National Trust an industry leader in Federal and State Historic Tax Credit investments nationwide, including pioneering the twinning of Historic Tax Credits with New Markets Tax Credits to bring additional benefits to low-income communities.
