The House Appropriations Committee recently approved FY 2020 allocations for its 12 subcommittees, known as 302(b)s. The allocations total $1.295 trillion in discretionary funding and were approved on a 30-22 vote. The housing related 302(b)s are as follows:

  • Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies: $75.8 billion, a $4.7 billion or 7 percent increase over current levels
  • Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies: $24.3 billion, a $1.3 billion or 6 percent increase over current levels

The 12 House subcommittees will now take their 302(b) allocations and begin the process of deciding how to divide the money between agencies and programs within its jurisdiction. A parallel process has yet to begin in the Senate.
