NH&RA joined a letter calling on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal (D-MA) to add Historic Tax Credit (HTC) provisions back into the Build Back Better Act. In a press release, NH&RA President Thom Amdur said, “The HTC is a vital economic development tool that breathes new life into communities across the country, often repurposing aging sites into assets like affordable housing. Part of ‘Building Back Better’ is preserving and enhancing our nation’s historical places and encouraging building reuse to mitigate the impact of climate change; the HTC serves just that purpose and must be included in the budget reconciliation legislation.”
