HUD recently released a $365 million package to address unsheltered homelessness and homeless encampments, including $54.5 million in funds set aside specifically to address homelessness in rural communities. New construction is an eligible activity, contact your Continuum of Care lead agency as soon as possible; applications are due before October 20.

The package includes grant funds along with additional vouchers that will enhance communities’ capacity to address unsheltered homelessness by connecting vulnerable individuals and families to housing, healthcare and supportive services. The package also funds approximately 4,000 new incremental vouchers for households experiencing or at-risk of homelessness; those fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking; and veterans and families that include a veteran family member that meets one of the proceeding criteria.
