The National Park Service (NPS) released its 2022 annual report on Federal Tax Incentives for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings. 858 certifications of completed work were issued in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022, down from 1,063 in FY 2021. Rehabbed housing units increased from just under 5,000 in FY 2021 to 5,533 in FY 2022. Low- and moderate-income housing units decreased from 7,220 in FY 2021 to 6,789 in FY 2022. Notably about 15 percent of projects involved new National Register of Historic Places nominations.
