HUD and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) announced that interested parties can apply for the 2024 ACHP/HUD Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation award. This joint award honors outstanding projects that have advanced the goals of historic preservation while promoting affordable housing, community revitalization, and/or enhanced economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income families and individuals. Projects or activities must have been completed or have made substantial achievements within the last three years and have done the following:
- Promoted the use of historic buildings for affordable housing, community development and/or expanded economic opportunities;
- Included HUD funds or financing;
- Met preservation guidelines; and
- Contributed to local community revitalization efforts.
Submissions for the 2024 cycle are due by 11:59 p.m. PT on Dec. 18. HUD and ACHP plan to present this award in summer 2024.
