HUD’s HOME Program limit on the per-unit subsidy amount that a Participating Jurisdiction is permitted to invest in multifamily housing projects has historically been set at the Section 221(d)(3) mortgage insurance program maximum per-unit amounts. With the discontinuation of the Section 221(d)(3), HUD has published an interim policy notice for per-unit subsidy limits to be set at the Section 234-Condominium Housing basic mortgage maximum amount, since Section 234 limits have conventionally mirrored Section 221(d)(3) limits. The interim policy will remain in effect until a new rule is published. Section 234 maximum per-unit subsidy amounts are annually published in the Federal Register by HUD’s Office of Multifamily Housing.
