DOGE is reviewing NeighborWorks America, a congressionally chartered nonprofit that advances affordable mortgage financing and construction of low-income and workforce housing by providing grants and technical assistance to nearly 250 community development organizations nationally. Most of its budget is funded by Congress, with its FY 2023 budget, including $166 million in appropriations.
FHFA Director Bill Pulte shared on X: “We do not foresee any more executive leadership changes at Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac.”
HUD Secretary Scott Turner announced $2.2 million for the Tribal HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program. This money comes from repurposed FY 2017 funds that were not exhausted and are now available for grants to support the expansion of rental assistance for Native American Veterans who qualify.
The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs will hold a hearing on Thursday, May 1, at 10 a.m. ET, “Examining Insurance Markets and the Role of Mitigation Policies.”
