President Trump released the full details of his FY 2026 Budget, and—unsurprisingly—the more than 1,200-page appendix confirms what we anticipated: major funding cuts and staff reductions for programs our members rely on.
We covered the highlights (or lowlights) in our May 7 edition, and the takeaway hasn’t changed:
- Most key programs are zeroed out or are severely reduced.
📣 Your voice matters—Congress needs to hear from you. Urge your representatives to oppose these cuts.
What’s Next: The House Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Subcommittee is scheduled to mark up its own FY 2026 spending bill for HUD programs on July 14, with full Appropriations Committee consideration expected on July 17.
Meanwhile, the Senate has yet to finalize its markup schedule, as they are focused on reconciliation negotiations. What They’re Saying: Senate Vice Chair of Appropriations Patty Murray (D-WA) shared that President Trump’s budget “kicks Americans out of their homes” and “eviscerates HUD with a 43.6 percent cut.”
