22 Republican members of Congress sent a letter to Secretary Scott Turner, urging HUD to renew all existing Continuum of Care (CoC) grants expiring in 2026 for one additional year “to provide a stable bridge as the Department transitions to its next strategic phase.”
In the letter, reported by Politico, members:
- Encourage HUD to structure the process to prevent funding gaps and protect ongoing housing and supportive service operations;
- Emphasize that major NOFO or funding changes should be introduced carefully to avoid disrupting programs serving seniors or people with disabilities including mental illness, chronic health conditions, or substance use disorders; and
- Acknowledge HUD’s adoption of a two-year NOFO cycle has provided predictability and reduced administrative burdens for grantees.
