HUD Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued its Semiannual Report to Congress for April 1 – September 30, 2025.
By the numbers: HUD successfully resolved 214 open recommendations bringing the total open recommendations down to 547.
The report focuses oversight on HUD’s Top Management Challenges:
- Promoting health and safety in HUD-assisted housing
- Increasing access to affordable housing
- Mitigating counterparty risks
- Grants management
- Enhancing oversight of disaster recovery
- Managing fraud risk and improper payments
- Improving information technology (IT) modernization and cybersecurity
- Increasing effectiveness in procurement
Why This Matters: We expect these findings to be discussed during the House Committee on Financial Services Oversight of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Federal Housing Administration hearing scheduled for January 21 at 10 a.m. ET.
