The Senate voted 56-43 to confirm Bill Pulte to serve as the next director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).
- Democratic Senators Elissa Slotkin (MI), Angela Alsobrooks (MD) and Ruben Gallego (AZ) voted with Republicans to support the confirmation.
- FHFA oversees Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and 11 federal home loan banks. Pulte will play a key role in any discussions around privatization of the GSEs.
The Senate Finance Committee voted 14-13, along party lines, to advance Michael Faulkender’s nomination to be Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Treasury.

President Trump announced the following nominations:
- Andrew Hughes to be Deputy Secretary of HUD;
- Craig Trainor to be Assistant Secretary of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at HUD; and
- Luke Pettit to be Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions at Treasury.
What’s next: The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will schedule nomination hearings.
