Clean Energy Tax Credits are being considered for repeal, with the savings used as a pay-for in reconciliation.

21 House Republicans wrote a letter to House Ways and Means Committee Chair, Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO), publicly opposing wholesale repeals of the credits.

  • They asked that any changes to energy tax credits be done in a “pragmatic fashion” without “undoing” programs that are promoting energy innovation and lowering utility costs.

study released by the Clean Energy Buyers Association found that residential energy prices in the U.S. would increase by nearly seven percent in 2026 if the tax credits were eliminated.

Why This Matters: These credits are a key piece of financing stacks for affordable housing deals that could be on the chopping block.
