The House Committee on Financial Services will host two housing related hearings next Tuesday, February 10:
- Priced Out of the American Dream: Understanding the Policies Behind Rising Costs of Housing & Borrowing at 10:00 a.m. | 2128 Rayburn House Office Building and
- Building a Solid Foundation: Restoring Trust and Transparency in Public Housing Agencies at 2:00 p.m. | 2128 Rayburn House Office Building.
Go Deeper: In mid-January, Rep. Lawler (R-NY) introduced the Improving Public Housing Agency Accountability Act, which requires annual reports on key details of public housing, including compliance with the law, the physical and financial state of the housing, and recommendations to restore facilities. Expect questions, similar to those asked by some Republicans during Secretary Turner’s HUD oversight hearing, on proper oversight and structural reforms for housing authorities.
