On Monday, President Trump posted on Truth Social asking Congress to pass the Senate version of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.
What They’re Saying: Chairman of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, Senator Scott (R-SC), responded on X saying:
“Thank you, Mr. President!
By passing the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, Congress will deliver on your agenda and ensure that 2026 is truly the year of affordability.
I urge my colleagues in the House to get this done.”
What They’re Saying: Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) released an op-ed in The Hill, reigniting the need for urgent compromise between the two chambers to pass the bill.
Why This Matters: In last week’s edition, we shared a Politico article on Pres. Trump agreeing to hold off on posting to Truth Social while House Financial Services negotiated a deal. Punchbowl Newsreported that Rep. French Hill (R-AR), chair of the House Financial Services Committee, has been negotiating with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), the committee’s ranking member, on changes to the measure. However, the pair has yet to reach an agreement on a compromise version.
