White House Support: The White House shared a statement of administration policy saying, “If [the bill] were presented to the President in its current form, his advisers would recommend he sign it into law.

What’s Next: Chairman Scott (R-SC) and Ranking Member Warren (D-MA) of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee released the following joint statement upon House passage:

“The Senate passed a strong, bipartisan housing bill because families across this country need relief from unaffordable housing costs and a fair shot at the American Dream. We worked closely with the White House and our colleagues in both chambers on a bill that puts families first and addresses the housing crisis. There’s still work to be done and we are committed to continuing to work with the White House and our colleagues in the House on a housing bill that can pass the Senate and get to the President’s desk.”

Politico reports Ranking Member of House Financial Services, Maxine Waters (D-CA), and Senator Elizabeth Warren, two strong progressives, are still at odds over the institutional investors buying up single-family homes provision in the bill.
