The Executive Committee is comprised of the organization’s officers and is elected annually by the Board of Directors. HUD Streamlines Environmental Review for Large Multifamily Projects

HUD issued an interim final rule, eliminating the requirement for large multifamily projects (200+ units) to submit environmental reviews to Field Environmental Clearance Office (FECO) or Program Environmental Clearance Office (PECO).

The agency cites reduced processing delays and duplication, noting the step can slow projects with tight closing timelines despite existing technical assistance.

Why This Matters: The change aligns with broader federal efforts and President Trump’s executive order to streamline permitting and accelerate housing development and environmental review efficiency.

The rule took effect yesterday, with public comments open through July 21.
