What They’re Saying Upon Enactment: Chairman of House Financial Services Committee, French Hill (R-AK), said:

“Homeownership should be within reach for more Americans, and this law moves us closer to that goal. This bill reduces unnecessary barriers to building, strengthens community banks, and ensures families – not institutional investors – have a fair shot at buying a home. The final product reflects years of bipartisan, bicameral collaboration and proves that when Congress stays focused on results, we can deliver meaningful reforms.”

Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA), Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee, said:

“Today, we are facing one of the worst affordable housing and homelessness crises in our nation’s history. For far too long, families have been priced out of the American Dream, as housing costs have skyrocketed while wages have not kept pace. This bipartisan, bicameral law represents the success of Congress coming together to deliver desperately needed relief to all our constituents who are struggling under Trump’s housing crisis.”

Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee said:

“Today, the American Dream is a little more within reach for families across this country. The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act will help more Americans plant roots, build stability, and pass opportunity to the next generation.”

Senator Eliabeth Warren (D-MA), Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee echoed her colleague’s comments:

“This is the biggest housing legislation in more than 30 years, and the biggest affordability win for the American people in this Congress. It will build more housing, bring down costs, and stop private equity from buying up single-family homes for the first time ever.”
