HUD issued a proposed rule to rescind the “Floodplain Management and Protection of Wetlands; Minimum Property Standards for Flood Hazard Exposure; Building to the Federal Flood Risk Management Standard (FFRMS)” final rule and associated regulations published in April 2024.
The proposed rule would generally restore HUD’s regulations to their pre-April 2024 state, but would maintain flexibilities related to floodways, categorical exclusions, exemptions from Part 55 applicability, and the decision-making process.
Comments are due September 8, 2026.
