Pennrose announced the promotion of Ivy Dench-Carter to senior vice president of development. In this role, Dench-Carter will oversee the execution and growth of Pennrose’s development pipeline within multiple designated regions, be responsible for the oversight of performance goals for the regions as identified in Pennrose’s Strategic Plan and monitor regional performance and efficiency.

CDT’s equity investment will help fund substantial rehabilitation of the NYCHA-owned (New York City Housing Authority) buildings and individual units known as the NYCHA Manhattan Megabundle, a 16-site portfolio located throughout Manhattan totaling 1,718 residential units.

Berkadia announced the new hire of Tim Leonhard to serve as senior managing director. Leonhard joins Berkadia from JLL where he served as senior managing director and leader of the Affordable Housing Group.

Mark Straub’s last day at Pennrose will be December 31, 2020. During his tenure with Pennrose, Mark has played a pivotal role in developing and growing the Pennrose platform and business in the Southeastern U.S.

Pennrose announced that Mack Hancock has joined the organization as Vice President of Operations for the Property Management Company. Hancock, an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, will provide property management leadership and oversight for properties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

MassHousing, the non-profit Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), and the City of Boston announced the closing of $36.5 million in MassHousing affordable housing financing for the development of the 135-unit The Loop Mattapan Station, a new affordable and workforce housing community in Mattapan Square. 

Citi recently announced the issuance of its first Affordable Housing Bond. The transaction consisted of a $2.5 billion four-year non-call three-year fixed to floating rate note issuance, the largest-ever social bond from an issuer in the private sector.

Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH) named Catherine A. Cawthon president and CEO, effective January 1, 2021. Cawthon will join OCCH following more than 20 years at Fifth Third Community Development Corporation (CDC), serving the last 11 as president.

Architects who last completed a Virginia Housing Universal Design Seminar prior to January 1, 2016 must be re-certified so that developments they work on are eligible to request Universal Design points in the 2021 Tax Credit Application round.
