National Housing & Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA) is seeking an Associate Director to work closely with the Managing Director and CEO in carrying out management, planning and operational functions. NH&RA is a nonprofit organization providing information, education and networking opportunities to thought leaders, key level real estate executives and other professionals engaged in building, owning, operating and financing affordable housing.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Implement the policy agenda for the organization and working groups;
  • Hands-on management of member relations for our 300 plus members;
  • Oversee all aspects of five conferences a year, plus virtual events, in conjunction with internal team members and vendors;
  • Advocate on behalf of our organization, as well as in unison with allied interests; and
  • Monitor and influence national and state policy, especially with Housing Finance Agencies.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Five years of progressive professional experience within the affordable housing sector;
  • Managerial and budgeting experience;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;
  • A demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically, including an ability to lead and manage complex policy advocacy efforts involving multiple issues and parties
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and professionalism (including engaging in executive-level networking, public speaking and the ability to host conferences and meetings);
  • Ability to travel for a few days at a time, several times a year;
  • Familiarity with structure & operations of trade associations;
  • Nimble team player able to wear multiple hats within our small organization; and
  • Bachelor’s degree; masters preferred.
