Global Green USA has completed its 4th annual analysis and ranking this year after looking at the 2008 Qualified Allocation Plans (QAPs) for all 50 states. The report finds an increased emphasis on green building from 2007 in forty-four states; however, this a great deal of diversity in the requirements found across the various allocating agencies. The Global Green USA analysis focused on the following themes: Smart Growth, Energy Efficiency, Resource Conservation and Health Protection.

The report does not provide an analysis of incentives available to developers to incorporate green features into their projects. NH&RA’s Council for Energy Friendly Affordable Housing (CEFAH) has compiled a critical new resource for developers outlining federal, state and local incentives available energy and utility improvements. This is available to CEFAH members at no cost or can be purchased as part of NH&RA Green & Sustainable Development Resource CD-ROM.

CEFAH has also developed a comprehensive white paper outlining critical recommendations to improve the energy performance of the nation’s affordable housing portfolio. CEFAH will be presenting it recommendations at its Annual Meeting on March 12, 2009 at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida. Please contact Thom Amdur at 202-939-1753 or tamdur@housingonline.com for details about CEFAH.
