The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD has published a notice soliciting public comments by 5/29/9 regarding a new data collection requirement under the low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) program. The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 requires state housing credit agencies to submit to HUD at least annually certain demographic and economic information on resident households in LIHTC properties. The act also requires HUD to establish standards and definitions for the information that state agencies must submit, and for HUD to provide technical assistance to state agencies. In the new notice, HUD solicits input early from state agencies and others on a methodology or approach to meet this statutory requirement in advance of the Department’s submission of a formal proposal for public comment.  read more…
