U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan has announced the selection of Richard Walega as HUD’s new Regional Director for New England, which comprises Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. As Regional Director, Walega will act as HUD’s liaison to state and local elected officials, members of Congress, developers and other stakeholders, as well as oversee the delivery of HUD programs and services to the region and evaluate their efficiency. USDA Rural Development Decoupling Program Development Stakeholder Session – April 25
The decoupling of rental assistance from Section 514/515 loans under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 will now permit properties with Section 514/515 maturing mortgages to continue to receive rental assistance to further preserve affordable housing.
