Massachusetts voters will vote this November on a ballot initiative to preserve or repeal the state’s affordable housing law, also known as the Comprehensive Permit Law or simply Chapter 40B. The Law Firm Nixon Peabody LLP notes in an alert on its website that “This campaign is shaping up to be a referendum on the overall importance of affordable housing in our state, not just about the affordable housing law. A loss in this effort will be harmful to the creation and funding of all kinds of affordable housing developments in Massachusetts.”  Supports of Chapter 40B have organized “The Campaign to Protect the Affordable Housing Law” to oppose the initiative.  A rally will be held in Boston on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Fenway Park.  To register, RSVP at rsvp@protectaffordablehousing.org.
