Voters in Massachusetts rejected Ballot Initiative Question 2, which sought to repeal the state’s affordable housing law known as Chapter 40B. Chapter 40B allows developers to override local zoning laws on details like density and height if their projects include 20-25% affordable housing units. Opponents of the law say that it is abused by developers, unsupervised by housing officials and strips away local control in rural and suburban communities.
