The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is seeking comments on new draft program documents for its Multifamily Energy Efficiency and Housing Affordability-EmPOWER (MEEHA-EmPOWER) Program. The purpose of MEEHA-EmPOWER Program is to promote energy efficiency and affordability in the State’s multifamily rental housing developments for low and moderate income households in order to reduce building energy use and lower utility bills for occupants. Under this program, DHCD will provide MEEHA-EmPOWER loans and grants for the purchase and installation of energy efficiency improvements in affordable multifamily rental housing developments. A total of $12.5 million will be available under MEEHA-EmPOWER for qualified multifamily rental housing developments and DHCD hopes to launch the program in July 2012. Comments should be submitted by email to Danielle England (England@mdhousing.org) no later than Friday, July 13, 2012.
