Yesterday, the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Subcommittee proposed to cut funding for the HOME Investment Partnerships program (HOME) by a staggering 93% from $900 million to just $66 million, all but eliminating the program. San Diego Housing Federation urges state housing adviocates to call Senators Feinstein and Boxer to tell them why the HOME program is important to the work you do, urge them to vote “YES” on any amendment to restore funding to the HOME program, and ask them to support raising the low spending caps that force Congress to cut successful, effective programs like HOME.
