Conifer Realty’s new affordable apartment community in Egg Harbor City, NJ, is providing homes to seniors displaced by Hurricane Sandy and has earned an ENERGY STAR certification.

Rittenberg Manor provides 100 home to seniors over the age of 62, and sets aside five of those units for homeless individuals. Construction on the property finished in early August 2015 and the building was completely occupied by the end of the month.

Conifer Realty estimates the energy efficiency measures included in the new property will result in an annual energy cost savings of 17% when compared with a building constructed to meet minimum energy standards. The property features ENERGY STAR certified appliances, Water Sense certified toilets and shower heads, and high-efficiency lighting in the units and common areas, including the parking lot. Throughout the construction process, independent parties performed testing and inspections to confirm that the building met the strict requirements set by the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program.

“Our company is committed to raising the bar for energy efficiency in our multifamily high rise building construction projects like Rittenberg Manor,” said Sam Leone, Vice President of Conifer.  “The units in this building will provide important benefits for both residents and the environment.”

“Developers who partner with ENERGY STAR offer new apartments and condo units that are designed and built to standards well above most others on the market today,” said Jonathan Passe, Director of EPA’s ENERGY STAR Residential Branch. “ENERGY STAR certified units are built with a comprehensive design, construction, and verification process to ensure that  these living spaces will offer real energy efficiency, comfort, durability, and value for years to come.”
