The Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals recognize excellence in service amongst federal employees. This year, HUD Director for the Office of Recapitalization Tom Davis has been chosen as a finalist for the Management Excellence Medal. Davis’ achievements with the RAD Program include generating $3.9 billion in private investments as well as reducing the time it takes for a deal to close by 40%. Davis recently spoke at NH&RA’s 2017 Annual Meeting Pre-Conference Symposium and updated attendees on topics from RAD’s latest Revision 3 to the need for raising the unit cap on the in-demand program. The recent Omnibus Appropriations Bill does exactly that, raising the unit cap from 185,000 to 225,000 units.

USDA Rural Development Decoupling Program Development Stakeholder Session – April 25
The decoupling of rental assistance from Section 514/515 loans under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 will now permit properties with Section 514/515 maturing mortgages to continue to receive rental assistance to further preserve affordable housing. A stakeholder engagement session is being held on April 25 at 2 p.m. ET and those interested in participating are encouraged to register.
