The Federal Housing Finance Agency recently published the final rule stipulating housing goals for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for the next two years. The majority of both single family and multifamily goals remain the same from the previous two years.
The GSEs must now support 315,000 rental homes serving 80% AMI or lower, an increase over the previous 300,000 unit requirement.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded grants under the $7 billion Solar for All program, which will create or expand existing low-income solar programs.
The decoupling of rental assistance from Section 514/515 loans under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 will now permit properties with Section 514/515 maturing mortgages to continue to receive rental assistance to further preserve affordable housing.
