Later this month, The Urban Institute, the MacArthur Foundation, and other philanthropic organizations are hosting a half-day workshop to discuss and debate what Chicago and Cook County should do to optimally utilize the new federal Opportunity Zones incentives established by the Tax Reform Act. The official announcement can be found here.

The event intends to assemble developers, investors, tax attorneys, community development professionals, philanthropists, and the public sector. Speakers from all these avenues will present at different panels, informing interested parties about current plans and creating greater consensus on this unique opportunity for the Chicago Metropolitan Area.

The workshop is scheduled to take place on Tuesday July 31 from 8 AM – 12:30 PM at the Chicago Community Trust, located on 225 N Michigan Avenue.

This workshop is invite-only, but more information on potential attendance can be requested by contacting Janae Ladet at JLadet@urban.org
