Daniel McCue with the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University published this blog, which explores the growth in high-income renter households. After not growing between 1990 and 2004, the number of renter households shot up by over 10 million households since 2004. High-income renters don’t just rent high-end units. Some high-income renters choose to rent units that would be affordable to renters with lower incomes, thereby reducing the number of affordable units available to lower income households.
