Per Governor Noem’s Executive Order aimed at controlling the spread of COVID-19 in South Dakota, South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) personnel will continue working remotely March 23-27, 2020. Staff will be available during normal business hours (8:00 -5:00 CT) via email and phone, as office phones will be forwarded. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to SDHDA with any questions or concerns. As this is a fluid situation, we will work to keep you informed as changes occur.

Attention: Developers

The public meeting on Housing and Community Development Plans will be Wednesday, March 25 at the 2:00 pm CT via Skype and conference call. Comments on the 2020 – 2021 housing allocation plans, and the 2020 Annual Action Plan are due April 8.  Copies of the draft plans can be found on SDHDA’s website here.

Attention: Property Owners and Management Agents

In response to concerns related to COVID-19, SDHDA has suspended on-site inspections and monitoring reviews until further notice as we seek to minimize spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of residents, partners, and SDHDA staff.  We are testing the ability to conduct remote file reviews; as we continue to work through the pandemic, we may reach out with instructions for the safe uploading of file review documents.

HUD has published a guide, https://www.hud.gov/coronavirus, for Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, and Project-Based Voucher Program and Native American Programs and the Office of Multifamily Housing.  The general information is helpful to any affordable housing project, even if your program is not specifically related to those listed in the guide. We encourage you to work with your residents to communicate processes of ensuring health and safety and any policies you are implementing during this time.

Lender Training Update – Many of you have seen the theme for this year’s Lender Training, “Find Your Space.”  Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), SDHDA believes that, in the best interest of our lender partners and staff, that “Space” if you will, is to stay where you are at. SDHDA will be postponing the “Find Your Space” lender training until this pandemic is behind us.  We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this decision.

With the Covid-19 outbreak and related shutdowns we will be experiencing extended lead times on current orders as well as future orders.  There have been numerous interruptions in the supply chain, production, as well as moving.  We will reevaluate in a few weeks and do our best to provide updated lead times and notify the sales representatives as well as the customers of their new target date.
