The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) is requiring contractors, as well as recipients of federal financial assistance (including subcontractors) to be registered at Sam.gov. Active registration in SAM is required to apply for an award and for HUD/MSHDA to make a payment.

To determine if a proposed contractor is debarred, grantees must check the federal SAM database. In addition to checking the name of the contracting firm, the names of the owners, officers and partners of the firm must also be checked. Website printouts must be placed in the project’s file. Staff should also review any state and local debarment lists. To receive automated reminders to renew registration, email addresses must be current in the Sam.gov database.
