California Housing and Community Development extended the application deadline for its 2022 Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) to Nov. 30, 2022. Jurisdictions throughout California can use this opportunity to apply for their 2019, 2020 and 2021 available funds. The 2019 PLHA funds have an encumbrance deadline of Dec. 31, 2022 so if your jurisdiction has not applied for your 2019 funds, it is critical to apply by that Nov. 30, 2022 deadline or 2019 funds will revert to other uses according to state law.

The PLHA provides funding to local governments in California for housing-related projects and programs that assist in addressing the unmet housing needs of their local communities. The funding supports increasing the supply of housing for households at or below 60 percent of Area Median Income; providing assistance to affordable owner-occupied workforce housing; assisting persons experiencing or at risk of homelessness; facilitating housing affordability, particularly for lower- and moderate-income households and more.
