Updated building codes, which took effect July 1, 2022, require all projects that first apply for a building permit on or after July 1, 2022 to include, at a minimum, provisions for electrical service capacity at no less than 20 percent of the vehicle parking spaces. This includes all affordable housing projects and is above the minimum standards established by OHCS in our Core Development Manual. Portland General Electric (PGE) has allocated funds to address the EV charging needs of residents of new planned affordable multifamily housing developments.
