The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) issued a Request for Input (RFI) on tenant protections at multifamily properties with mortgages backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Specifically, FHFA is looking to “collect information that highlights tenants’ experiences and stakeholders’ perspectives; and solicit ideas for improved data collection to better quantify the size and scope of the issues identified by tenants.” NH&RA plans to submit comments before the July 31 deadline, please send any feedback to Neron Adams-Escalera by June 30.

House Announces Tax Teams
House Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith (R-MO) announced the establishment of ten “Tax Teams,” made up of Republican members of the committee, that will each focus on a specific aspect of tax policy to prepare for what is expected to be major tax legislation next year in advance of the expiration of many provisions from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
