HUD published a notice listing additional areas subject to small area fair market rents (SAFMRs) in the housing choice voucher program. SAFMRs are ZIP code based FMRs that are designed to encourage voucher holders to move to areas with higher opportunity and lower concentration of poverty. The SAFMRs are effective Oct. 1, 2024. Forty-one metro areas across 26 states meet the requirements.

House Announces Tax Teams
House Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith (R-MO) announced the establishment of ten “Tax Teams,” made up of Republican members of the committee, that will each focus on a specific aspect of tax policy to prepare for what is expected to be major tax legislation next year in advance of the expiration of many provisions from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
