AB 280 – Nevada’s Rent Control Measure Advances through Senate

The Nevada Senate Committee on Commerce and Labor held a work session on May 12 to discuss AB280, a bill to impose a rent cap of 5% for vulnerable tenants. Vulnerable tenants are defined in the bill as those who are 62 years or older or who rely on Social Security payments. The committee provided a recommendation of “do pass”. The bill passed the House 27-15 on April 22.
