State legislators shared concerns with the state LIHTC program, Kansas Affordable Housing Tax Credit (KAHTC), during a Legislative Post Audit committee meeting.

  • A recent audit conducted by the committee found that the state has awarded almost $73 million in KAHTC tax credits since 2023, but none of it has been used.
  • State auditors project up to $730 million in foregone revenue through the Affordable Housing Tax Credit program.

Advocacy is needed to educate legislators on the benefits of KAHTC to prevent negative changes or elimination of the program.
