The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) opened applications for the 2026 Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) grant cycle. This grant cycle offers up $10 million in CHIP grants to local governments, nonprofits, and public government authorities that qualify. Applications and relevant attachments are due by Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:59 pm

The 2026 CHIP application must be submitted using the Emphasys online portal. The 2026 Community HOME Investment Program Application highlights all necessary components to submit the application. Both the manual and application are available on the DCA website.  

Eligible applicants include: 

  • City and county governments in Georgia, excluding HOME participating jurisdictions, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development;   
  • Certain public government authorities;   
  • Nonprofits with 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status; and 
  • Current CHIP grantees with less than 50 percent remaining balance in the current CHIP award.   

Eligible activities include $500,000 awards for the rehabilitation of owner-occupied single-family homes and $1,500,000 awards for the new construction and reconstruction of affordable single-family homes for sale to income-eligible homebuyers.
