Minnesota Housing announced the availability of up to approximately $4 million in deferred funding to build market rate residential rental properties in communities with proven job growth and demand for workforce rental housing. These funds are available through the Workforce Housing Development Program (WHDP) and will be administered as unsecured, zero-interest, 3-year deferred forgivable loans through a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

Applications are due Tuesday, June 2, 2026, by noon Central time. Applicants must submit all required materials using the Multifamily Customer Portal to be considered for funding.

Minnesota Housing staff are hosting a WHDP RFP Application Information Session on Wednesday, March 18 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Central Time . Potential applicants are encouraged to attend. The information session will include an overview of program updates and statutory changes, eligibility requirements, timelines, and other important RFP information.
