These are free webinars for anyone interested in learning more about fair housing issues statewide and how to prevent illegal housing discrimination in Oregon. Fair Housing and Inclusive Communities: Tuesday, March 31 // 9-11 a.m.
This fair housing training focuses on fostering inclusive communities. Participants will explore the history of policies and practices that led to segregation, understand Oregon’s requirements for creating much-needed housing, dispel common myths and misconceptions that hinder development, and learn strategies to promote equitable housing growth and welcoming diverse neighborhoods.
Fair Housing for Long-Term Care Facilities: Thursday, April 23 // 9-11 a.m.
This session will review Fair Housing Law and how it specifically applies to long-term care facilities. There will be special focus given to the protected class of disability, reasonable accommodations, modifications, and screening and termination as it relates to fair housing.
Fair Housing for Permanent Supportive and Transitional Housing Providers: Wednesday, June 24 // 10 a.m.-noon
This fair housing session will focus on specific fair housing considerations for permanent supportive and transitional housing providers. Topics will include fair housing basics, disability, reasonable accommodations, modifications, assistance animals, how to evaluate accommodation and modifications requests, and more.
Fair Housing Hot Topics and Case Examples: Thursday, Sept. 10 // 1-3 p.m.
Have you ever wondered what types of contacts are most common on our fair housing renters’ rights hotline? The top calls are related to discrimination based on disability, reasonable accommodations, assistance animals, source of income (housing vouchers and subsidies), and familial status. Come to this training to learn more about what housing providers can do to avoid discriminating, protections in place for housing consumers, and pertinent case examples.
Fair Housing Updates: Tuesday, Oct. 20 // 1-3 p.m.
Attend this session to learn about fair housing updates at the federal and state levels, and to learn more about continued enforcement efforts and protections.
